Hi there! I’m a rover exploring the planet Mars. I need energy to do my work, so I can travel and discover new things on the planet. Mars is very far away from Earth — it takes about six months for a spacecraft to reach me. Over the years, humans have sent many missions to Mars. No people came with me, but they sent robots like me that are controlled from far away. My name is Curiosity. I move across the surface of Mars, but I still need power to keep going. I can’t use regular batteries like the ones in toys — there are no stores or plugs on Mars! That’s why I use solar panels and batteries. My solar panels collect sunlight and turn it into electricity to charge my batteries. The batteries power my sensors and systems. They also change electricity into movement and heat, so I can drive around and stay warm on the cold Martian surface. Thanks to sunlight and my batteries, I can explore Mars safely and all by myself! 🚀🔴
