A small, skinny dog walks alone through a cold, empty city at night. Rain falls softly. His fur is dirty, his ribs showing. People pass by without looking. He stops at a closed bakery, staring at the dark window. His tail moves once… then falls still. A flashback appears: The same dog, clean and happy, running beside a little girl. She laughs, calling his name. Then the memory fades. Back in the present, the dog curls up beside a streetlight. The rain turns heavier. He shivers, eyes slowly closing. Suddenly, footsteps. A woman stops. She kneels, holding out her hand. The dog opens one eye. Hope flickers. Cut to morning light. The dog walks again — but this time, there is a leash. And his tail is wagging.
