Backstage at a national bodybuilding championship, Valeria dwarfs everyone. She stands 6’4” with biceps thicker than most competitors’ torsos, and a chest looks ready to snap. Her lats flare like living wings, and her waist is tight only in comparison to the explosion of muscle above and below. Drenched in sweat, she pumps her arms with dumbbells the size of car wheels — for her, it’s just a warm-up. Male competitors stare in disbelief, visibly shrinking in presence. A young figure athlete tries to speak to her — Valeria leans in, and her chest forces the woman to step back. “You’ll grow,” she says with a smirk, “but never like this.” A male coach murmurs, “She’s not even human.” She hears him, laughs, then flexes. The lights flicker.
