Inside a real UK animal shelter hallway. Kennels on both sides. Adoption banner visible above. Phone held at chest height, slight shake from the person holding it. A woman in a hoodie stands alone near the center of the corridor. She does not move. Her hands are loose at her sides. From straight ahead, a severely hungry, very weak border collie mix stands facing her. His body is thin to the bone — ribs, spine, hips clearly visible. Back bent. Neck narrow. Tail barely moving. A shelter worker quietly says, “They adopted you.” There is a pause. The dog slowly raises his head and fixes his eyes on the woman. Nothing else matters to him. He tries to walk toward her. His front legs wobble. He takes a few steps, stops, breathes hard, then tries again. A soft, strained sound comes from his throat. The woman drops down to her knees without speaking and opens her arms. Still coming from straight ahead, the dog reaches her with visible effort and leans his thin body into her. She wraps her arms around him carefully and starts crying. The dog presses his face into her chest and stays there, breathing heavy. No music. No edits. Just shelter sounds. Cut.
